Sports At Tamaki ^-^

Well, Every Fridays classes, 2, 4 & 5 go down to Tamaki College. Well, Tamaki College is located in this little part of Auckland, called Glen Innes. We go to Tamaki College for Physical Education/PE. My experience from going to Tamaki has been AWESOME!

The Yr 7 & 8 Students have been put into groups of 10-12. There’s lots of activities to play like, High jump, Chain tag, relays, amazing race, rope jump and more.  

There are several reasons why fitness is important. Such as, losing weight, having fun or just having exercise. Can fitness be fun? Yes, of course fitness can be fun. We all play tag/tigy right? Well, that awesome game can help us lose a bit of weight.

Porscha and I think that going to Tamaki College is awesome! We both think going to Tamaki is good for our fitness. Also, to gain more confidence:)

Sketchup!

Well, my class (class 2) have been creating 3D designs on a programme called sketchup, it can be used for anything, such as, 3D designing, creating, building, learning. etc.  Its really cool because you can create anything you want, then print it out on a 3D printer. This term (term 1) we got given a task to create a toy, for our younger students. But, we had to put a lot of thought and hard work into making this toy.

Martin Luther King. Jnr

Elbow to elbow, I was trying to get my way through the bunched up crowd. As I was squeezing my little sisters hand,  the crystal like water was reflecting off Martin Luther’s face. Instead of trying to find my parents, I took my sister for a walk to the museum.

Walking up the stairs, staring at the giant pillars I walked past the statue of Abraham Lincoln, I settled myself on a step to watch Martin Luther attempted to legalise black & white equality.

Technology

Some children say that they would be lost with out TV, phones, computers and stuff but really there being  "Dramatic". I can admit that my Net-book is the only thing that I play on, people even talk to it. Which I  think is really weird. Either way people think they wouldn't be alive with out Technology.

My Dad always used to say he invented Technology, and when I was little I used to believe him. Obviously I don't now. One day I was about 3 years old. I asked my dad to make me a computer, he was pretending not to listen but then he was brave enough to turn around and talk to me, then I asked him again. He went into the garage.......... He came back with a cardboard box with a keyboard drawn on it and a mouse drawn too. Then I ran to my mum crying. That was the day I never believed him ever again.

I'm pretty sure every body reading this right now would be on their computer or Laptop and writing a comment. But here's a challenge for you, try go with out Technology for 2 WEEKS. And if you have completed your challenge, I'll give you a fake Gold Medal.

Olympics

Today we had an Immersion assembly. An Immersion assembly is when all of your school gets together and explains what your topic is about. Our topic for this term is, Go For Gold.

Team 1 was First it was a video about Ms.George meeting famous people in their houses. The first person she met was a famous high jumping New Zealander. hen she went to visit another famous person. He was runner and he represented New Zealand.

Then came team 2 Their one was another movie. It was about the three Keys to being perfect. First Key: Practice. Second key: Practice. Third Key: Practice. And that makes perfect.

I'm actually going to skip team three because no offence it was pretty boring. So lets just skip to team 4. This act I liked the most. Because none of them had talent. Boriss was next and he was telling the whole world that he spearfishes, he said he's been practicing for the past week. Next was Olga she was going to try out for swimming but the only problem was she didn't know how to swim. "Iv'e been practicing how to swim in my bath and I can't wait to start swimming in some water above my head". Barbie, barbie barbie barbie. Barbie has spent most of her life swimming in the sea as a mermaid. One day barbie went to go sit on a rock out in the open. She met a guy a guy met her. And then they fell in love, until he left her so she regretted leaving her graceful swimming. Then there was shattered dreams. One day he was riding on his scooter and he tripped over and his right hand landed on the road and one one the footpath. When he goes swimming and he uses his right hand to swim he goes to the left side. And that just ruins it all. At the end they all acted together at sincrinised swimming .

Horror brushed against my leg

Something brushed up against my foot and my surprise turned to horror as I looked down and saw a huge scary Snake. I screamed like the world was ending and at the same time I was thinking that there couldn’t be any snakes in New Zealand but I kept screaming. When it started slithering up onto the couch, we were practically playing tag. It kept on following me everywhere I went so it was getting a bit boring screaming so I stopped. So I ran outside and quickly shut the door but when I turned around it was behind me.

I couldn’t open the door because it was locked, so I checked if there were any windows open. There was! When I got there I realized that I couldn’t jump through a window. That didn’t really help. So I quickly sprinted over the snake and for some reason it got fatter and longer than before. And that’s when I started panicking. Do you know how people say that snakes don’t have eyelids well that means they can’t blink and you can’t tell when their sleeping. And that was my problem was it sleeping or does it just like staring. Anyway I went up to it and started waving to its eyes at the time I did not know what I was gonna do if I got gobbled by this huge monster but I tried anyway.

I quickly turned because I saw a shadow and it was the snake's tail creeping up on me. I tried to run but then I tripped over the tail. At that moment I thought I was going to be the snake’s lunch. But no it just slithered away.

“Whew” I said.

Then the snake actually turned around. That was the point I got furious. And then it started coming towards me and then I screamed then it hissed at me. Then I thought of eating it before it ate me, I even thought I sounded like a crazy person. Then I just blacked out. I woke up the next day in my bed. I figured out that is was dream. And I was gutted. I told my little brother all about it.

He said “ I know how to sleep with my eyes open now”.

It had been such a relief to wake up and discover it all had been a bad dream.

Chocolate

Have ever dreamt of just chocolate. Well I always do, because I'm a chocoholic. Yes I admit I usually stuff my face with chocolate. I started drinking chocolate when I was about 3 weeks old. Chocolate milk. And I know someone who loves chocolate even more than me Ashlee, my bestie.

Once I had a dream that me and my family went to a swimming pool and it was made out of chocolate, I was practicably swimming and eating swimming and eating at the same time. It was so delicious I didn't think it was actually a dream until my brother woke me up and I was so angry at him. But then  I eventually I fell asleep. Even though it was a different dream but it was still about chocolate.

My Christmas Holidays

For my Family X-mas holiday we went to Thames. On Christmas I was so exited to go to Thames, lucky we weren’t camping. One of my aunties live there so that’s lucky for me. As soon as we got there I saw all of my cousin’s my Nana and my Grandad, aunties and uncles, then we shot off to a waterhole. My auntie Wah lead the way because we didn’t know where we were going.

All of us started to park up, and all you could see was a steep hill and of course we had to climb down it. It was about a 30 second walk. But when we got there it was sooo pretty, there was a big cliff , a humongous waterfall. As soon as I touched the water I knew it was going to be freezing. So I got the craziest idea to just jump in, and I did. I started to swim over to the other side to the cliff, it looked pretty big from when you were close up. Just on the left you could see a rope to get up to the top, I got up then I peeked by the edge and I almost slipped. First my cousin Jasmine jumped and then her sister then my uncle. It took about 15 minutes to convince me that it doesn’t hurt. But I jumped. I was screaming on the way down but I faced my fear.

After about 25 times of jumping off the cliff I wanted to see how deep it was, and it never ended.But then I got up to the top.Then we all got out and started going back to my auntie’s house. We had to wake up real early and then go home. When we got home me and my brother saw a humongous tramp. That night we started putting our tree down it took about an hour, because there was movie on and I kept on stopping to watch it.

But that was my Christmas and I hoped you liked it.

All About Me

Hi my name is porscha,I am 10 years old. I was born on January 16Th 2002. I’m originally from New Zealand. I have goldish brownish hair and brown eyes.

I like the color dark Blue. My favorite sport is Netball, and I love Beyonce. If your wondering what my favorite animal is it’s Giraffes. I also really like Avatar the movie. I don’t really like reading but I do like twilight eclipse.

My hobbies have to be swimming and traveling . My favorite subject at school is math because you don’t really have to do anything. My worst subject is writing, that’s because you have to be really quiet and I'm not good at being quiet . My best friends are Ashlee, Tyla, Kaycee, Jorja and Jonita.

My family members are my mum my dad and my brother.My dad’s name is Thomas my mum’s name is Juanita and my brother’s name is Thomas. I only have a pet cat. My favorite program would have to be Shortland Street. When I grow up I want to be a Sport's player.The person I look up to is my Dad.

Cross Country

“Stand up 9 year old girls!” Mr.Somerville announced.We began walking to the reserve, for our cross country race. Shivering with exitement we got to the start line. When I thought that we were going to start running, the 10 year old boys got told to stand up.”Go!” shouted Mr Burt, and they all sprinted off.

Eventually it was time for the 9 year old girls to stand up. Mr.Burt said, “ On your marks. Get set. Go!” Ashlee,Kaycee and I started sprinting furiously.But after a great start I started lagging behind. I felt like I couldn't breathe properly. It felt like my lungs were screaming.

Once we got up to Ms.Squires the track started to get narrow.I was too scared that I was going to fall in the creek. People were bumping into me trying to push past. “Stop it!!” I yelled. Eventually I made it past the narrow bit. But when I was back on track Brandon and Lorenzo were blocking everyone. I pushed Lorenzoout of the way and I moved on.Stumbling down the stairs I was thinking, “Oh oh I’m going too fast I hope I don’t fall down.”

I ran up a steep hill thinking, “I hope the end is close.” At the top of the hill I saw Tyla Baker. ”Go Porscha! she yelled so I started sprinting. Just as I was going to start to walk I saw Tyla and Jonita and they started yelling Run.Run!And I sprinted to the finish line.

R.W.C

Every 4 years there is a Rugby World Cup.In 1987 the first Rugby World Cup was held in New Zealand and New Zealand won. There is 48 games to be played. There will be 20 countries competing for the Rugby World Cup, the current champions are South Africa they won the William Web Ellis in 2007(William Web Ellis is the man who picked up the ball in the middle of a soccer game).The Rugby World Cup will be held all around New Zealand on the 9Th of September.Only one week and a day.

Badminton

Every Thursday we go to Badminton with these ladies called Lorene and Donna they taught us how to hold the rackets.The positions were were called the back hand and the forehand. Lorene told us that we had to keep the shuttle airborne.
She told us that we could use a short racket or a long racket. We got 5 shuttles and tried to hit them into the shuttle filled bin. And I got none in :(.

The second time we went to Badminton a lady named Donna taught us. The first activity that we played was Badminton soccer then she said we had to get a partner, my partner was Jonita. First we had to put some cones separated like a soccer post. Then we started playing. I yelled to Jonita go”, I only got 1 goal in and Jonita got 3.

And then we played a real game of Badminton there was 2 on each side if it did not get over the net or you made a mistake you had to get to the back of the line and wait for your next turn I felt like I was under a lot of pressure. The longest I stayed in was about 5 minutes.

Immersion Assembly

This morning, the first day back at school, there was an Immersion Assembly. An Immersion Assembly is when the teachers talk about our topic. We found out that this term our topic is Keep Your Eye On The Ball, which is learning about the Rugby World Cup. When we walked in I saw almost all of the teachers wearing wigs for their items.

My favorite item was team 3 because the teachers,an All Black, French and Canadian representatives had to get a partner from the audience. Their partners had to sit at the back of them and feed them the Weetbix. The winner was the one who finished first. The All Blacks won (Miss Lavakula)

The best bit was though, if you sat up nicely you got a ticket and then the vendors gave you chip’s - hot chips with a sausage or a fizzy drink.
Then we went back to class.

GI Lagoon

While pushing off the wall, submerging under the water, I felt a shiver run up my spine.”This water is cold”I said to my self. I soon rolled to breath.While getting back into breathing position,I accidentally gulped a mouth full of water, Ew I said in my head “it was Gross”.

With a powerful kick I submerged under the water and sent spray flying like a bunch of fish splashing in the water. I quickly turned to my breathing position. “ I wonder if Tyla sent spray flying.
