Skills For Adolescence

Fia Fia Night!

What is Fia Fia you ask? Well, Fia Fia is a very special occasion to us Pt Englanders. It’s where the whole of Pt England School gets together on one special night, to dance on one huge stage. In our well thought out “fia fia” groups.

Fia Fia night is held on the top field, just above the senior playground. Fia Fia means “Happy” so, you know it’s going to be a happy night. Everyone is welcome to see children, seniors even teachers dance. A huge black stage is built just outside of the staff room. You’re very welcome to come. Wednesday April The 9th.

Empathy V Sympathy

Empathy V Sympathy:

I'm here today to explain what the difference is between Empathy and Sympathy. From my point of view, these two are very different.

What is Empathy you ask? Empathy is understanding. For instance, if I were to fall and badly hurt myself, someone might walk up to me and ask, “are you alright? I know exactly how you feel.” That’s what empathy is. This means the other person understands exactly what you’re going through, because they have experienced it before. Also, empathy does not always mean getting physically hurt, you can even be mentally hurt. It’s always good to talk about it.

Sympathy, well sympathy is quite hard to explain. Sympathy is very opposite to Empathy. For example, I fall and hurts myself, then someone walks up to me and starts feeling sorry for me. This means they don’t understand how I feel, because they haven’t been through it before.

Sketchup!

Well, my class (class 2) have been creating 3D designs on a programme called sketchup, it can be used for anything, such as, 3D designing, creating, building, learning. etc.  Its really cool because you can create anything you want, then print it out on a 3D printer. This term (term 1) we got given a task to create a toy, for our younger students. But, we had to put a lot of thought and hard work into making this toy.

My thank you letter

Dear Ms Erick,

It was a pleasure having you at our School picnic. We all really appreciated your help. Your help was really important because there were a lot of children to be looked after. There were even children trying to go for a swim when it wasn’t their time. It was very helpful what you did, so thank you very much.

Before Pt England School went to the picnic, we met at the hall, to ensure that we had our hats and that we had enough parent helpers. We were told to bring our own lunch, so I filled my bag right to the top.

My favorite part of the day was taking selfies, eating & chilling on the beach with my main friends. I was trying to do the splits on the sand, but it wasn’t working. Sorry for hitting you with the ball. It was an accident :) Once again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Valentines Day Assembly ^-^

Well, there was an assembly today, we arrived at the hall and Mr Burt said " Don't stand up, this isn't the national anthem". He started playing the guitar faintly, then sung the words, "I love you, you love me". And I couldn't help but do the actions. Then we stopped. "Etu!" (stand)  Mr Burt yelled out. I saw the whole school stand right before my eyes, it was awesome!

We had finished the National Anthem, and Mr Burt got told to disappear. So he did. Then Kaycee played a video. It was about a group of people dancing. It was cool. Then during the video those same people on the video ran onto the stage & started doing their dance, it was pretty cool. After that finished, four ladies walked onto the stage, while doing Samoan dance moves. It looked exactly like they were gliding.

They're performance quickly changed, into more of a haka, only one lady was gracefully dancing. The others were like warriors looking at their prey. When they finished, Gloria ( prefect ) walked onto the stage and asked the first lady in line some questions.  She answered them and yeah :) what what what?

What Empathy Means

To me Empathy means, feeling.
For example: I trip over and graze my arm. Then Asena comes up to me, and says, “ Are you alright?, I know exactly how you feel.” That’s what empathy means to me.

Also, empathy is when people are able to understand others feelings. For instance, Asena falls and hurts her head, then I say, “ Are you algoods?” “ I’ve experienced the same type of thing”.

Thats what empathy means.
